My Biography

In the Pain Clinic, we have an extraordinary sense of teamwork. We all advocate for the quality of patient care and work together in mutual respect. We are dedicated to providing optimal patient care; for us, the patient comes first in all that we do. Drs. Cherry and McKendry provide our department with stellar leadership. They, and all of us, have a shared vision of what we’d like our practice to be.

I came to Kaiser Permanente because of the opportunities for professional development. Kaiser Permanente provides frequent, excellent training, enabling me to grow as a professional nurse. I have a background in the Intensive Care Unit and Emergency Room, and I’ve been able to apply that knowledge and experience here. I also enjoy working in San Francisco because I feel we have diversity and we strive to provide culturally sensitive care.

San Francisco Medical Center is very good about provider access. We focus on educational and preventive aspects in health care. In the realm of health care systems, Kaiser Permanente is a place where we can be comfortable and confident that patients get the best and safest care.

When you come to see me, my purpose is to understand your concerns and try to problem-solve with a multidisciplinary care team.. Chronic Pain is a relatively new field, and I have many areas of particular interest, including cancer patients, pain relief, the use of interthecal pumps, microinjuries, and evidence-based practice.

Outside of work, I volunteer at my children’s school as a library aide. I am very interested in leadership and in the optimum functioning of organizations. Right now, I am reading Better Thinking and Living by Drs. Linda Elder and Richard Paul. I exercise on a regular basis, choose stairs over the elevator, shop at produce markets, and in general have a proactive, organized, positive approach to life.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
