My Biography

I have been a licensed PT since 1999 but I also have a background in personal development, leadership, and motivation, so when Kaiser Permanente created the Health Coach position, I knew this would be a natural fit for me. I am able to combine my course leader, life coach, and physical therapist skill sets into one remarkable job. Before becoming the Fitness Health Coach, I worked in a variety of outpatient clinical and acute hospital settings. I am currently working on my certification as a personal trainer to augment my ability to serve our members. Special areas of interest for me include exercise physiology, strength training, and manual therapy techniques, as well as personal development and human transformation modalities.

One of the things I love about working for Kaiser is how much we have broadened what we have to offer in terms of its alternative and preventive medicine approaches. Also, I think the Personal Health Coach program is an excellent representation Kaiser’s commitment to making good on its Thrive message. One of the Kaiser health care model’s key strengths is its integration of services. My clients benefit from this integration particularly well as I can contact their primary care provider with any question I might have as we work toward achieving their fitness goals effectively and safely. Patients also receive a lot of service for a very low cost, including steady and growing attention to preventative medicine.

In my department, I get to work on a great team with high energy and morale. Working in San Francisco is a major plus for me, because here there’s always room for different kinds of people and a diverse expression of ideas. Outside of work, I enjoy science fiction, singing, riding my motorcycle, reading, and weight training. I take care of myself by working out, drinking a lot of water, doing a little yoga, keeping my home organized, cooking for myself as much as possible, and doing a job I love. Our department looks forward to welcoming and working with you.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
