My Biography

Dr. Maggie Wilson is the person who sold me on Kaiser Permanente. She and I attended a two-year postgraduate course in Child and Adolescent Development at the Psychoanalytic Institute. She spoke about the opportunity to collaborate with other professionals and to be challenged and exposed to best practices and evidenced based treatment approaches. I am very happy with my decision to become part of the child and adolescent psychiatry team at Kaiser. The child psychiatry team has a tremendous amount of expertise and commitment to children, adolescents and families.

In my practice, I enjoy the diversity of the patients. I am able to see a broad spectrum of members here. I think Kaiser’s team approach to health care is a terrific one. This comprehensive approach allows for more thorough evaluation and treatment. We have an efficient system, with easy referrals to specialists, educational groups and departments right here onsite. There is a great learning environment at Kaiser, as well. I enjoy the mutual support that exists among colleagues in our department.

I specialize in grief and loss, anxiety, depression and social skills training for young children. I also have expertise and several years experience providing treatment to survivors of child sexual abuse and trauma. As of late, I have a special interest in Parent/Child Interactive Therapy . This therapy is an evidence-based and research-based treatment that enhances a parent and child’s relationship and decreases tantrums and behavioral problems in children.

There are many things I do to relax and stay balanced in my life. I eat healthy meals, run three to four miles a few days each week, practice yoga, and practice meditation. I maintain a sense of humor and try to keep things in perspective.

Away from the office, I like to cook and spend time with my family and friends. I enjoy reading historical fiction and Latin American literature. One of my favorite authors is Gabriel Garcia Marquez. I also like to travel, and have been to Vietnam most recently.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
