Welcome to my practice:

Welcome and thank you for visiting my home page. As a member of a five-physician team I treat patients with abnormal heart rhythms otherwise called cardiac arrhythmias. As part of my practice I perform electrophysiology procedures to discover causes of arrhythmias. I perform catheter ablation procedures to treat certain cardiac arrhythmias. I also implant devices such as cardioverter-defibrillators for the treatment of cardiac arrest and pacemakers for the treatment of a slow heart rate. It is my pleasure to share this information page with you. I look forward to the opportunity to address your heart rhythm problem.

Background:

I was born and raised in Chattanooga, TN. I attended the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill undergrad and am thus an avid basketball fan during March Madness. I obtained my medical degree from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine in Nashville, TN in 1998. I then moved to the northeast where I completed my residency in Internal Medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. Although I’m from Tennessee, I find my new home to be California. So I decided to go west where I completed my fellowship in Cardiology and Electrophysiology at Stanford University School of Medicine. In addition to an Electrophysiology fellowship, I participated in the Stanford Innovation Biodesign Program as a subspecialty fellow. The goal of the fellowship is to recognize “needs” within the area of Electrophysiology and develop technological solutions. I joined the Permanente Medical Group in 2005.

Interests:

  • My professional interests involve the detection and treatments of Cardiac Arrhythmias as well as the development of new technologies that can aid in the treatment of patients with cardiac disease.

  • On a personal note, when I am not working, I enjoy traveling, fishing, hiking, swimming, and spending time with my husband and 2 daughters.

Philosophy of Care:

“I view myself as an educator, consultant and listener who is able to help my patients make educated decisions with regards to their health care and well being. Being a good doctor requires teamwork, not only with other physicians, nurses and medical staff, but also with the patient. With the participation of everyone, my patients get the best care that is right for them.”

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
