My Specialty and Why I Chose It

I am a gastroenterologist. This is a physician that takes care of problems of the esophagus, stomach, intestines as well as the abdominal organs associated with digestion such as the liver. I have been doing gastroenterology for many years. I find it is an enjoyable mix of interaction with the patients and the performing of endoscopic tests which allow problems to be defined and many times corrected.

My Practice Philosophy

My practice philosophy is to try to help the patient understand what may be occurring with them. Many times conditions exist that can be corrected but, when that is not possible, I feel it is important to try and help the patient cope as best can be done.

My Credentials

Medical school George Washington University, Washington, DC
Residency Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, PA
Fellowship UC Davis Medical Center, Sacramento, CA
Board certification Gastroenterology, American Board of Internal Medicine

My Tenure with Kaiser Permanente

I worked at Kaiser in the early 1990's and have now returned as of September 2005 and am quite pleased to be back. The medical environment allows me to practice medicine in the best interest of the patient.

My Professional Interests and Affiliations

I am a member of many professional organizations and have been lucky enough to have been named an outstanding professor in my previous capacity as a teacher of physicians.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
