Welcome to my home page!
Bienvenidos a Kaiser Permanente!
I was born and raised in Kenya, East Africa and immigrated to the United States with my parents in 1974. I completed my bachelor 's degree in biochemistry and Spanish Literature at Washington University in Saint Louis. Upon graduating, I did clinical research in platelet collagen adhesion at Washington University School of Medicine. I went to medical school at Saint George's University School of Medicine located in Grenada, West Indies and graduated in 1999.
I completed my residency training in internal medicine at Saint Michael's Medical Center in Newark, New Jersey in 2005. I chose Saint Michael's as it afforded me a solid foundation and knowledge base in internal medicine as well as stimulated my interests in infectious diseases and cardiovascular medicine; it is the number one hospital in Northern New Jersey for open heart surgery and the premier hospital in the treatment of HIV and AIDS.
Upon completion of my residency training in internal medicine, my wife and family relocated to the Fresno/Central Valley area. I joined Kaiser Permanente in the Department of Medicine in September 2005. I chose primary care medicine because I get tremendous satisfaction and gratification in working with patients in a day-to-day basis, diagnosing and treating a wide variety of clinical diseases. My position at Kaiser Permanente in the Department of Medicine in Fresno affords me the unique opportunity to utilize my Spanish skills to the fullest extent in patient care as I can fluently communicate with my patients in Spanish language and explain to them the intricacies of their disease process and its treatment. Moreover, working at Kaiser Permanente allows me to practice high quality, high technology medicine and provide exceptional personal service to my patients at the touch of a button, because all the functions from patient charts, laboratory tests, x-rays, and medications can be accessed by the touch of a button. My goal is to provide the best quality of medical care with exceptional personal service to all my patients in a timely, efficient manner.
When not caring for patients, my wife and I have our hands full with our two children, ages 15 months and three years. During our spare time, my wife and I love to travel to the Pacific Rim, primarily to New Zealand, my wife's home town. Our travels have taken us to Australia, Fiji Islands, Hawaii, India, New Zealand, and the United States. Our future travel plans are to enjoy the multicultural events in the San Francisco Bay Area, go camping and hiking in Yosemite National Park, and visit the giant redwoods in Sequoia National Park.
My office is located in the Department of Medicine in Oak 4, the fourth floor. If you call during our office hours for an urgent appointment, I will try to see you; otherwise one of my associates may see you. Our approach here at Kaiser Permanente is a team approach utilizing medical assistants, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants in the care of our patients. I welcome you to our family at Kaiser Permanente and wish you good health.
Buen Salud!

An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
