My Biography

I grew up in southern California where, near my home, there was a brand new Kaiser facility offering pre-paid medical care to members. I thought the idea of pre-paid health care was great even then since my family had lots of medical bills despite their insurance plan. Later, when I was becoming a doctor, I hoped I could join Kaiser Permanente, and in 1981, that happened.

I am married and have an adult daughter and son. Outside of my busy practice, I occasionally do bird watching, painting and gardening when time allows.

My personal philosophy has been to take care of kids the way I’d prefer my own to be taken care of, and at Kaiser, I have felt that I was able to do so. The team approach that Kaiser has, for promoting wellness and preventative care, with 24 hour,7 days a week centralized service through all departments and specialties, has been very appealing to me.

If you are considering joining my practice, let me say that if you consistently need late afternoon appointments you may not want to be on my panel. The late afternoons run way late sometimes. mornings and early afternoon appointments often run more smoothly.

My advice for new patients is to remember to bring your immunization records when you come in for your first visit. We cover all the recommended vaccinations for children which is a great value (but we don’t want to have children endure extra shots just because no records were brought in!) For all patients, bring in whatever forms need completion for school, sports and camp, too. Sometimes a few days may be needed to complete these outside of the physical. Also, it may be helpful to make a list of any questions or concerns you may have for your visits, focusing on the 2-3 most important ones.

I also encourage you to go to the Health Education Office on the 4th Floor at Kaiser Daly City. They have a lot of information for parents, and notices about classes and other offerings to promote health for your families. They have more information on several medical conditions also.

Remember that you also have the option of sending me confidential e-mail messages for non-urgent problems. You can go to www.kp.org and get a password for this system. (Save the password where you can easily find it!) I encourage you to do so. Or, you can still call the Advice Nurse at 650 742-2050 for other minor concerns that may arise during the year, and I will see their messages for problems that need my attention.
