Dr. Dong received her undergraduate degree from the University of California, Irvine and her PhD from Washington State University. She completed her predoctoral clinical training at the University of California at Los Angeles and her postdoctoral residency at Kaiser Permanente in San Rafael.

She has been a staff psychologist at Milpitas since 2001 and works with patients with many diagnoses with wide ranges of severity. She has expanded her clinical focus in the area of Co-existing disorders... patients who have mental illness along with chemical dependency diagnoses.

Dr. Dong's area of interests is in providing treatment adults who were sexually abused as children, as well as working with Vietnamese refugees who have experieneced emotional & physical trauma in their premigration, migration and post migration periods.

Her past clinical experiences have included Pre- and Post-HIV counseling in a hospital setting and the bulk of her experience was in providing extensive psychological services to a student population.

Dr. Dong has also worked at the University of California at Irvine and Washington State University Career Service centers, providing career-related counseling. She has taught undergraduate and graduate level classes and enjoyed the process of preparing, teaching and actively conversing with students in their acquisition of knowledge. Her most enjoyable experiences included mentoring students of color and recruiting students that would not otherwise pursued high education.

Dr. Dong has conducted extensive research in the validity studies of the Vietnamese MMPI-2 (psychological assesment) in assessing Vietnamese refugess. This is an area of special interest because this population is highly traumatized. Because there are very few psychological instruments that exist to assess this populations psychological needs, her studies over the years have contributed an increased awareness along with providing furthur validity to this instrument.
