To My Patients:
Welcome to my Internet Home Page. Thank you for your interest and taking the time to learn more about me and the Radiology Department at Kaiser Permanente Modesto. There are a number of links to clinical information, as well as a link to the web sites of other members of our department. You can even use this site to refill prescriptions, or request an appointment with your personal physician.
About Me:
I was born and raised in San Jose, California where my family received their medical care at Kaiser Permanente, Santa Clara. Influenced by growing up in the Silicon Valley, a few miles from the large IBM plant there, I decided in high school to pursue a career in the computer field. In 1986, I graduated from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo with a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science. I then returned to San Jose to work at IBM as a programmer at their Santa Teresa Laboratory. While I was there, I met my future wife, Linda, and we were married in 1988. We have five children, two boys and three girls born between 1989 and 2005. My family and I continued to get our healthcare through Kaiser Permanente and my oldest two children were born at Kaiser Permanente, Santa Teresa.
Inspired by a friend who became a physician, I decided that I would like to work in a field that more directly involved helping others. After completing some pre-requisite classes at San Jose State University, I was able to enter medical school and graduated from the University of California, Irvine College of Medicine in 1998. I completed an Internship in Internal Medicine also at University of California, Irvine in 1999 and then moved my family to Texas. From 1999 to 2003, I completed a residency in Diagnostic Radiology at the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) in Galveston, Texas. I remained at UTMB an additional year for a fellowship in Neuroradiology learning more about imaging of the brain, head and neck, and spine. This also included training in diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, especially for relief of spine-related pain.
After five years in Texas, my wife and I wished to return closer to our families who continue to live in the Santa Clara Valley. The high price of housing kept us from moving back there, so we settled in the San Joaquin Valley. After a brief stint with a private practice group, I joined Kaiser Permanente Modesto in March, 2005. It is great to be associated with Kaiser Permanente again and to practice in a collegial environment where providing quality patient care is the primary focus.
Away from work, most of my time is spent with my family. Attending church together is a priority. We also spend a great deal of time on weekends traveling to my children's soccer and gymnastics competitions. I enjoy sports of all kinds though I spend more time watching than participating these days. When I get a chance, I also like doing some gardening and cooking.
My Philosophy of Care:
I believe patients should be treated with respect and compassion. I strive to provide the same level of care for my patients as I desire for my family.
I consider it a privilege to assist your primary care physician or specialist in your care. Our entire Radiology Department and I want to be certain that all of your concerns are addressed. If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
