My Qualifications

I received my B.S. in Nutrition Science from U.C. Davis in 1988, and have enjoyed working as a health educator ever since. I decided to work in the field of Health Education because I’m excited by the fact that we can dramatically improve our well-being and quality of life by making healthier lifestyle choices. Besides that, I love teaching and motivating people! I’m fortunate to have the opportunity to help people reach their goals in a way that’s realistic and adapted to their specific needs.

What I Like Most About Kaiser Permanente

I think the thing I like most about my job is hearing people’s stories – their successes, failures and where they hope to go. Those stories are very interesting to me and help make our session more personal.

I believe that there many wonderful healing methods available to us, but my focus begins with the basics. Meditation, yoga, massage and other healing modalities are very helpful, but won’t be as effective if we’re still trying to incorporate things like eating healthier, getting some regular exercise or quitting smoking into our lives. Begin with these essentials, take one step at a time, and you will make progress.

My Interests Outside of Work

At home, I enjoy some health-related activities like walking my dog, using my treadmill and doing strength-training exercises and stretching. I also like lowfat cooking, and have gotten pretty good at Italian, which is my favorite! I have practiced and taught meditation for many years. Other hobbies include hiking, camping and photography.

An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
