About Me

Hello, my name is Mark Pelzner. I am an optometrist. An optometrist diagnoses vision problems and eye disease, prescribes eyeglasses and contact lenses, and prescribes medicine to treat eye disorders. Before becoming an optometrist, I worked as an optician fabricating and dispensing eyeglasses and contact lenses. Prior to my employment with Kaiser Permanente, I worked in private practice in the East Bay and taught on the clinical faculty at the University of California Berkeley School of Optometry.

My Practice Philosophy

As a primary care optometrist, I am directly involved in patient care on a daily basis and gain much satisfaction in witnessing the results of this involvement. I provide comprehensive eye care to patients of all ages and diagnosis and treatment of ocular disease. I chose optometry because I enjoy the combination of science, optics, medicine and direct patient interaction that is offered by a primary care eye provider. I really enjoy working together with my patients as a cooperative venture. I derive satisfaction from helping people to see better, and to preserve their eyesight.

Why I Like Practicing Medicine at Kaiser Permanente?

One of the advantages of the Kaiser Permanente system is the team approach. Physicians, medical assistants, nurses, and support staff all work in a team fashion to provide the best care for the patients.

On Personal Note….

When I am not working I enjoy spending time with my wonderful wife, adorable two children and our fun-loving dog!

I volunteer at Mission Vision, an organization that provides eye exams to the homeless communities of the Sacramento valley.
