About Me
About Me
I was born and raised in Southern California. I attended medical school at USC. I stayed there to complete my internship in general Internal Medicine. Finally, my specialty training in Radiation Oncology, also at USC, completed my training. I joined The Permanent Medical Group in July of 2004. I was appointment the Chief of the Department of Radiation Oncology in October of 2007.
Medicine is my second career. I took, what in retrospect, was a rewarding detour on my way to my high school goal of becoming a doctor. I earned my Bachelor’s in Physics and my Doctorate in Medical Physics at UCLA. I worked for seven years in the field of Positron Emission Tomography (PET scanning), first for the leading manufacturer of PET imaging equipment in their research and development department, then in a PET center as medical physicist and radiation safety officer. This “detour” took my wife and I to Knoxville, Tennessee where our two daughters were born and on to Shreveport, Louisiana, before returning to Southern California for medical school.
I enjoy working on cars. I used to be an avid surfer (until I moved to the Sacramento area). Now my main past time is supporting my daughters in their fast pitch softball endeavors.
Finally, I need to give credit where credit is due. Words cannot express how thankful I am to my family: my wife, daughters and parents, for supporting me through the long journey of becoming a doctor. While my first career was a good one, I cannot imagine anything I’d rather be doing now.
