About Me

It has been very rewarding to work in alcohol and drug treatment for the last 25 years. I recieved my Ph.D. from United States International University in San Diego and I completed my post doctoral work at the Montreal General Hopital, McGill University. Prior to joining the Permanente Medical Group I had worked at the Standord Alcohol Clinic, Standord University Medical School. I was drawn in to working in Chemical Dependency field due to the missunderstanding about addiction. No one intentionally develops a drinking or drug problem. This disease is not a character problem or will power issue. Additionally, I am in awe by the the transformation of people in the recovery process. Please make an appointment to meet with me to talk over your concerns about your alcohol or drug use, or someone else's alcohol or drug use.

An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
