About Me

I joined Kaiser Permanente in 1996 after moving to California from New York City. I feel very fortunate to work with wonderful, skilled colleagues in an integrated healthcare system where our goal is to deliver the highest quality medical care to you and your family.

My office is located in our Psychiatry Department at Round Barn Boulevard, where I provide consultation services, individual short-term psychotherapy, and co-lead a Men's Group and a group for individuals with a history of chronic depression.

I have over twenty years of experience as a psychotherapist. I am also a certified psychoanalyst, having graduated from The Karen Horney Psychoanalytic Institute in New York City. I have extensive experience practicing both long term and short term treatment. My clinical practice is informed by self and existential psychologies, mindfulness practice, and primarily focuses on the patient in the present.

During my years of private practice in New York, I specialized in treating people in the arts. I have also conducted seminars on the creative process for young filmmakers at New York University. I am an accomplished photographer and have exhibited in group shows in New York and San Francisco.

The arts are an essential part of my life, and I frequently attend live jazz, symphony, and chamber music concerts, visit art museums and galleries, or catch a modern dance performance. I also like hiking and being near the sea, which makes Point Reyes one of my favorite places.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
