My Specialty and Why I Chose It

I am glad you stopped by to visit. This site is designed to help you become more familiar with me and all the resources offered by Kaiser Permanente. Please take time to explore the links to the Health Encyclopedia where you can search out specific medical topics and get health advice. The link leads you to many other resources including health classes, a drug encyclopedia, message boards, popular health topics and more. I look forward to meeting you and partnering with you in your health care.

I am a Family Nurse Practitioner working in the Department of Head and Neck Surgery or what many of you know as ENT (Ear, Nose and Throat). I see patients that have been referred by their primary care providers for problems with ear complaints, dizziness, pre- and post- operative examinations and TMJ problems. I am the coordinator for our Sacramento Valley TMJ Program. I teach group classes, see patients for individual follow-up as needed, and make appropriate referrals to community specialists that may be indicated for ongoing care.

My Credentials

BS Degree University of San Francisco
MS Degree University of California

My Tenure With Kaiser Permanente

I have been a part of Kaiser Permanente since 1974. I have had the privilege of caring for patients in a variety of settings including Women’s Health, Primary Care, Chemical Dependency, Employee Health, Occupational Medicine, College Health at CSUS, and now in the surgical specialty of Head and Neck Surgery. I enjoy the varied and personal connections I make with my patients and the autonomy that working at Kaiser Permanente allows me as a caregiver. I strive to provide high quality care using both medical and nursing models.

Professional Interests & Affiliations

  • Sigma Theta Tau Nursing Honor Society
  • California Nurses Association

  • American Academy of Nurse Practitioners
  • Society of Otorhinolaryngology and Head-Neck Nurses, Inc.
  • National Certification as Family Nurse Practitioner – American Nurses Credentialing Center

On a Personal Note

When I am not working, I enjoy time with my family, working in the yard digging in the dirt with my hands, listening to quiet jazz or reading a book. If I could, I would be making more frequent visits to my home state of Hawaii where life is simpler and calmer.

Disclaimer
If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
