Welcome to my practice...
Welcome and thank you for visiting my home page. As a member of the cardiac electrophysiology team, I treat patients with abnormal heart rhythms otherwise called cardiac arrhythmias. As part of my practice I perform electrophysiology procedures, such as Electrophysiologic Study to identify the mechanisms of arrhythmias; catheter ablation procedures to treat certain cardiac arrhythmias; implant devices such as cardioverter-defibrillators for the treatment of life-threatening ventricular tachyarrhythmia and biventricular pacing devices for the treatment of some patients with severe congestive heart failure. It is my pleasure to share this information page with you. I look forward to the opportunity to address your heart rhythm problem.
Background...
I graduated from Taipei Medical College in 1983, and decided to pursue bench research. As a result, I obtained a Ph.D. degree at Yale University. I had realized that I missed so much of the interaction with patients and would like to be able to help more people; therefore I reentered clinical medicine and started my clinical training at Yale University. I finished my training and joined a private practice group in Bakersfield, CA. I moved to New Jersey in 2000 and became an attending electrophysiologist at Deborah Heart and Lung Center. I joined the Permanente Medical Group in 2004. I am board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine.
On a personal note…
When I am free, I like to spend time with my family. I have young kids, and I want them to grow up feeling loved. I enjoy reading, listening to music, going to concerts and I play a variety of sports with my kids.
I'm also fluent in the Mandarin language.
My philosophy of care…
The treatment of some cardiac arrhythmias involves some newly developed technologies and skills. This field is still evolving to achieve better care for the patients. There are invasive ways and non-invasive ways to treat arrhythmias, and each method has its pros and cons. I believe that a patient should be well informed about the treatment options in order to make a decision. I encourage all my patients to read the brochures we send them before the visit and ask as many questions as possible during the visit. I believe that each patient is unique and his or her care should be individualized.
