About Me

I was born and raised in Southern California. I first received my BA in Art Education at the California College of the Arts in Oakland and then returned to school to study nursing. I worked as an RN for three years in the Intensive Care and Coronary Care Units as well as the Emergency Department.

In 1979 I was accepted to the family nurse practitioner certification program at UC Davis. I worked for the next 10 years in primary care settings in Petaluma, the Sonoma County Indian Health Clinic and Kaiser. I returned to school in 1994 to work towards my master's degree in nursing and completed my MSN in 1997. I was nationally certified as an FNP in 1985 and 2006. While at Kaiser I had a 6 months mentoring in dermatology. I started training in the Endocrinology department in 1999 and have worked in this specialty since. I love working closely with my patients and strive to give them personalized quality care.

I have been a nurse for 33 years and a nurse practitioner for 26 years.

I am a member of The Endocrine Society, the American Association of Diabetes Educators, the California Association of Nurse Practitioners and The American College of Nurse Practitioners. A few years ago I obtained my Clinical Diabetic Educator certification. My original training is Family Medicine. While working in Primary Care, I received training in Endocrinology. The Endocrine System is fascinating and complex. I like being a nurse practitioner because it uses all of my intelligence, all of my heart and all of my skills.

An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
