My Biography

I was introduced to Kaiser Permanente health care by a former colleague from my residency training at Massachusetts General Hospital, and I began working in the Pathology Department at the San Francisco Medical Center in 2005. I have been impressed by the high standard of patient care that Kaiser delivers, and the collaborative work environment the support staff and my fellow pathologists provide.

I am a surgical pathologist with additional training in Hematopathology, which is the study and diagnosis of diseases of the bone marrow and lymph nodes. The work is challenging, and I work closely with the Oncology department in the initial diagnosis and monitoring of patients with hematologic disorders. We are fortunate to have the Regional Immunohistochemistry Laboratory here at San Francisco, since the diagnoses I make usually involve special stains that help classify the cells in the tissue samples I examine. We see cases from the entire northern California region, and this widens the spectrum of cases available for examination, attracting excellent pathologists from some of the best training programs. We frequently review complex cases with each other, and this enhances the quality of the diagnoses and our own knowledge base.

During my leisure time, I like traveling, reading, and a little bit of skiing.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
