My Biography

I’ve worked in the nonprofit sector from the start of my career. Beginning with my stint as a candy-striper in high school, I have always been in health care and have a longstanding interest in working with people around lifestyle issues. San Francisco Medical Center was a natural fit for me because I wanted to have a career in a large, nonprofit hospital setting, an environment where I could practice as a health educator. What I particularly like about Kaiser Permanente is that members are able to receive comprehensive, centralized care, and they have a broad choice of providers available to them.

The fact that health education is frequently in the public eye now makes it fulfilling to me to work in a cutting-edge field. Our department and its many services receive lots of attention through Kaiser’s marketing efforts. This is quite remarkable, because health education is a field that is not normally acknowledged to this extent.

Here at the medical center, I sit on the Community Advisory Committee, the Domestic Violence and Weight Management Task Forces, and I anticipate joining the Marketing Council shortly. My special interests in health education include weight management, smoking cessation, and women’s health.

We do practice what we preach here. Our department walks, as a group, regularly, and I participate in the on-site employee Yoga and Pilates programs at our own Kaisercise facility. I do try to make healthy food choices on most days.

Away from the office, I enjoy salsa dancing and taking my young daughter to swimming lessons. I spend a lot of play time with her, and I am a Parent Board Member at her pre-school. I welcome you to come explore the vast array of resources the Health Education department has to offer.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
