My Biography

I had emigrated here at age 16 from South Korea with my family. Inspired by a local physician who provided compassionate care for my parents without medical insurance, I've pursued Medicine as my career. After my medical training, I've returned to the bay area where I grew up and joined the Santa Clara Medical Center in year 2000 as a hospitalist.

This mean you'll see me when you need a hospitalization for illnesses, like pneumonia, stroke or heart conditions just to name a few. I'll be the main physician taking care of you and orchestrate your care with other necessary Specialists and supporting staffs. I often work with our medical students, Interns and Resident Physicians in training whom I supervise. My goal is to provide quality medical care with compassion and emphasis on whole person care. I encourage all my patients to actively participate in their medical care , and I strive to make efforts to hear and address all your concerns and questions.

Outside my work, I enjoy golf, biking (both road and mountain) and my wife and two children. Naturally, I'm fluent in Korean.

My Credentials

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
