Welcome

Thank you for visiting my home page!

I have been a pediatric hospitalist at Kaiser Hayward since I completed my residency training in 2000. I have found that hospital pediatric work fits my preference of working with sick children it allows me to spend extended periods of time to know their families. The Hayward hospital is special in that we serve people from many different communities and cultures who come from all around the world, and I think that it is important that our health system embraces competency in multicultural care.

I was born in Taiwan and moved to the United States when I was three years old. I’ve lived all around the United States –in Dallas, Austin, Buffalo, Chicago, St Louis, and Baltimore. After college I spent two and a half years in Botswana in the Peace Corps as a math and science teacher. After joining Kaiser in 2000 I left for a year, 2005-2006, to work at the Hospital Albert Schweitzer, a charity hospital in Haiti, and I continue to work there as a volunteer for one or two months a year.

Outside of the hospital, I try to stay active – rock climbing, surfing, and skateboarding. Whenever I can I travel to the Sierras, Yosemite or Joshua tree to camp and climb. I spend my time indoors painting portraits, making hardwood furniture, and of course, cooking all different kinds of foods. I have a son and I have recently started giving him fencing lessons. He is also a great rock climber.
