About me

I grew up in China and completed my medical education there. My choice to become a doctor was influenced by a family tragedy. My uncle died from Hepatocellular Carcinoma when I was young, and that experience fueled my passion for medicine and pursuing this kind of work. I love helping people and enjoy challenges in life, and practicing medicine provides both aspects for me on a daily basis.

I work exclusively in the hospital, and see only inpatients. Hospital medicine provides the challenge of diagnosing complex medical problems, the opportunity to manage seriously ill patients, and the feeling of personal satisfaction when my patients recover successfully. My philosophy in medicine is to treat each patient as I would treat my own family members.

My decision to join Kaiser Permanente after my residency is because I see that they provide collaborative care, with support from different subspecialties, and they deliver quality care to our patients. In fact, my family and I have been Kaiser Permanente members since 2001.

On a personal note, I have a very supportive husband and wonderful twin boys. When I am not working, I enjoy reading, cooking, reading together with my boys, and volunteering in school.

My Credentials

Medical school Beijing Medical University, Beijing, China
Internship St. Elizabeth's Medical Center of Boston, Boston, MA
Residency St. Mary's Hospital and Medical Center, San Francisco, CA
Board certification Internal Medicine, American Board of Internal Medicine

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
