DEAR PATIENTS:

Welcome to my Internet Home Page. This site is designed to provide you with information about myself and how to access care in Rheumatology. Please take the time to get familiar with my homepage. I hope you will find it to be a useful resource for your healthcare needs and information. I plan to add to it on a regular basis, primarily with educational information, as well as with references to other useful sites; so stop back periodically, and let me know if it needs updating, and how it could be of most use to you.

ABOUT MYSELF

I was born and raised in Myanmar (formerly known as Burma). I always wanted to be a doctor because back in my country, being a doctor is a noble profession, a profession that can save lives. I decided to become a rheumatologist because my mom is suffering from one of the rheumatic diseases; therefore, being her daughter, it is natural for me to want to know more about this field. Also, while I was doing my rotations during my internship, I met a rheumatologist who is very inspiring to me; therefore, I decided to specialize in this field.

I received my medical degree from Institute of Medicine (I), Rangoon, Myanmar. I completed my residency in Internal Medicine from Abington Memorial Hospital, Abington, PA. Afterwards, I completed a fellowship in Rheumatology from University of Virginia Medical Center, Charlottesville, VA.

After the completion of my fellowship, I joined Kaiser Permanente in Modesto. I like the integrated delivery system where I can work closely with other colleagues. I also have a lot of friends who are working in the organization and they are all very happy about their practice.

My personal interests include cooking, eating, watching TV and keeping in touch with friends and family. I also enjoy creating websites. I am married with a daughter. My parents are living with me, but my two brothers and one sister are still living in Myanmar.

PRACTICE PHILOSOPHY

Patients with rheumatic diseases usually are long term patients. I will strive to create relationships with my patients; they can always fascinate me with their life stories. I will continuously learn about new medications and find ways to assist my patients to become better than what they used to be. Most of my patients are in pain; my job will be to help them alleviate the pain. I will treat my patients in an individual basis, I will spend time to talk with them and listen to them. Communication is the key to patient-physician relationship.

New patients in the Department of Rheumatology are seen by referral from your personal physician or nurse practitioner. Our medical assistant will call you to schedule your first appointment. Follow-up visits are scheduled as needed. My department and I want to be certain that all of your concerns are addressed, so if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call (209) 735-3230. Thanks again for visiting my home page!

An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
