About Me

I grew up in Myanmar in Southeast Asia. I speak Burmese and Mandarin Chinese. After graduating from college with a degree in biology, I chose medicine as a career because I wanted to serve people. I graduated from University of Medicine, Yangon, Myanmar in 1984.

After immigrating to the United States, I chose an Internal Medicine Residency program at State University of New York, Brooklyn. I believe loving care is the best medicine. I also feel that listening and communication are great healing powers. After completing my residency in 1998, I joined Kaiser Permanente as a hospitalist. I see Kaiser Permanente as the quality leader in caring for people.

As a hospitalist, I help patients and their families to come up with informed decisions in their hospital care. I am currently based at the Mt. Diablo Hospital in Concord.

I am married and have two daughters. On my days off, I enjoy biking to Mt Diablo.

My Credentials

Medical school University of Yangon Institute of Medicine, Yangon, Myanmar
Residency State University of New York Health Science Center, Brooklyn, NY
Board certification Internal Medicine, American Board of Internal Medicine

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
