Welcome to my Home Page! I would like to tell you about myself. I was raised in the Bay Area where my family has lived for over 100 years. I practice Psychiatry, which treats mental and emotional disorders. The opportunity to work with patients on a long-term basis led me to choose Psychiatry. I have a special interest in the psychiatric problems of the elderly and medically ill. There are some helpful links to the left and you can read more about me below. The clinic hours are also listed above.

My Background: I earned a B.A. with distinction and honors in Molecular and Cell Biology at the University of California at Berkeley. I then received my M.D. degree from Northwestern University Medical School in Chicago. I completed an Internship and Residency in Psychiatry at Stanford University Medical Center. In my last year of training I was selected to be the Chief Resident in Psychiatry at Stanford. I also received the Janssen Psychiatry Resident Award of Excellence for outstanding clinical performance at Stanford. I am Board Certified in Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.

I have conducted clinical and laboratory research and co-authored publications in several major journals.

Professional Experience: I joined the Psychiatry Department at Kaiser Permanente in Redwood City in 2002. I currently serve as the Consultation-Liaison Psychiatrist for hospitalized patients in the Medical, Surgical and Obstetrics Units. The remainder of my time is spent caring for patients in the outpatient psychiatry clinic. I enjoy the collegiality and interaction with the psychiatric and medical staff at Redwood City Kaiser.

When I take care of patients, I try to treat them the same care and consideration that I would extend to my own family.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
