Thank You for Visiting My Home Page!

My home page connects you to many helpful Internet health care resources that I believe to be reliable. You can check out the links to the left in the navigation bar, plus I have listed some additional links below that may prove useful to you.

About Me

I chose to become a psychiatric nurse practitioner after working in psychiatry for 15 years. I had worked in inpatient and in psychiatric emergency care on the east coast and west coast, and I wanted to be able to do more for my patients. The best graduate school in the country was at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), so that’s where I attended to receive my nurse practitioner education.

I like to work with my patients in a collaborative relationship to help them be as healthy as they can be. I believe that I am a consultant to my patients, consultant who specializes in psychiatric medication. I believe that patients are best served when they feel that we make collaborative decisions about what might work best for them. I also believe that a patient who is educated about their medication and living a healthy life style is more likely to be able to follow their plan of care.

I have worked for Kaiser Permanente since 1997; I originally worked at their Oakland Skilled Nursing facilities, and then moved to the Martinez Psychiatry unit in 2002. I like working for Kaiser Permanente because I can call or consult with many specialists who work with me to coordinate care for my patients.

My clinical interests are psychopharmacology, depression, women and hormones, sleep, and the interactions of medical problems and mental health. I am a member of California Association of Nurse Practitioners, Sigma Theta Tau (honor society of nursing), American Psychiatric Nurses Association (Charter Member), and the International Society of Psychiatric Mental Health Nurses.

Some of my personal interests include reading, traveling and more traveling, flying in general aviation airplanes and spending time with family and friends.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
