Welcome to my home page…
I am an anesthesiologist and a senior physician with the Permanente Medical Group. I am board certified in Anesthesiology and in Pain Medicine by The American Board of Anesthesiology.
Growing up as a child in India, visits to the nearby clinic were common. It was the healing touch of my childhood physician and my grandfather's reputation as a well-known physician that inspired me to pursue a career in medicine.
I chose Biology as my major during my under-graduate course, and as I continued with my studies, my imagination became caught up in the complexities and wonders of the human body. Medicine was a natural progression.
I completed a very comprehensive medical education in India. I was doing a residency in orthopedic surgery, when I met my wife and subsequently moved to the U.S.
I completed an internship in Internal Medicine and a residency in Anesthesiology at the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine, Oklahoma City. I then furthered my medical expertise by completing a fellowship in Pain Management at The University of Utah Health Sciences Center, Salt Lake City, Utah. Special areas of clinical interest include Acute and Chronic Pain Management, Obstetric Anesthesia, and General Anesthesia.
I accepted a position as staff anesthesiologist at Kaiser Permanente San Jose in 1999, and have been here since then.
I enjoy working with a group of dedicated Anesthesiologists and am impressed by the collegiality that is prevalent here. I also strongly believe in the Kaiser Permanente philosophy that focuses on high quality care and individual attention to each patient.
On A Personal Note…
When I am not working, I enjoy spending time with my family - my wife and two kids. I also like to play basketball, baseball and cricket.
My Philosophy of Care…
My practice philosophy is to provide quality care in a safe and personalized manner to every patient.
Recommendations…
These are some recommendations and guidelines.
- It is very important to let your anesthesiologist know about any medical conditions that you have been diagnosed with, and about all medications that you take on a regular basis.
- If you have any significant medical problems you need to be seen in our pre-operative anesthesia high-risk clinic before your surgery.
- It is also very important that you not eat or drink anything for at least 8 hours prior to your surgery.
- Finally Relax !
