My Biography

Medical Education: New York University School of Medicine, New York, NY
Internship: University of California San Francisco Medical Center
Residency: University of California San Francisco School of Medicine
Board Certification: American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, Psychiatry
Additional Languages: Italian
Joined Kaiser Permanente: November, 1994

My undergraduate studies were completed at The University of Rochester in Rochester, New York where I received a B.A. in Psychology. I attended medical school at The New York University School of Medicine in New York City where I graduated in 1981. I then relocated to San Francisco for my specialty training in psychiatry at The University of California (UCSF), completing my residency there in 1985. I have been licensed as a physician in the State of California since 1982 and I have been board-certified in psychiatry since 1986.

My Work at Kaiser

I have been a staff psychiatrist at Kaiser Medical Center in South San Francisco since 1994. I work with adults in an integrated multidisciplinary outpatient clinic. The focus of my work is on diagnostic assessment, psychotropic medication treatment and consultation to other medical center departments in the coordinated care of patients with coexisting medical and psychiatric needs. I am currently serving as one of my department's liaisons to the Department of Medicine's Behavioral Health Service. I have a working knowledge of Italian and am able to work with patients in that language.

Contacting Me

I am in the office (third floor tower, 1200 El Camino Real, South San Francisco) Tuesdays through Fridays and can be reached through the Psychiatry Department's main number, 650-742-2151. Messages may be left on my confidential voice mail 24 hours a day, 7 days a week (you will need to follow the telephone prompts when you call the department number). Rescheduling of appointments is most efficiently handled by our reception staff (again, please choose from the telephone menu) and routine medication refill requests, including "zero refill" requests, should be directed to our pharmacy's automated refill system (650-742-2888).

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
