Welcome to my home page!

My name is Dr. Viet Lam and I am an internal medicine physician with a special interest in hospital based medicine. My colleagues and I specialize in taking care of patients experiencing a hospital stay. People are inpatients for a variety of reasons ranging from planned or unplanned surgeries to complex conditions requiring extensive care. Take for example an elderly person having a knee or hip replacement. The orthopedic surgeon will concentrate on the orthopedic needs while I will care for all issues relating to internal medicine that the patient might have in their otherwise normal routine.

I joined the medical group in January of 2006. I am board certified in Internal Medicine. Prior to medical school I attended and received my undergraduate degree from University of Michigan. I’m proud to be associated and work with such a dedicated group of physicians and staff. I’m confident that you’ll receive the best possible care here in San Rafael as an inpatient or outpatient. A also speak Vietnamese which can come in handy at times. We, and Kaiser in general, have a diverse group of physicians trained in the various specialties and sub-specialties. Our integrated care delivery system makes it convenient and easy for our membership to navigate the often complex obstacles associated with the stress of being injured or sick.

Thanks for visiting me on the web. Please take a few minutes to look around and you may be surprised how much valuable web based content we are able to provide. Kaiser does a great job in trying to advise and educate our membership, community and general public in regards to all things health related. Take care and maybe I’ll see you around the Medical Center.

My Credentials

Residency St. Mary's Hospital and Medical Center, San Francisco, CA

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
