My Background

My ambition, determination and sense of adventure brought me to this country from Mexico. I grew up in the city of Toluca, known in Mexico for its volcano, the only one in the world where you can go into the crater with your automobile during summer, despite having perpetual snow at its peak. I attended medical school at Universidad Autonoma del Estado de Mexico, and my training continued into surgery residency, and ultimately to plastic surgery residency, when I decided to relinquish my position to come in the United States. I have lived in several great cities, doing my internship in surgery in New York at the Brooklyn Hospital, which is affiliated with New York University, and my anesthesia Residency at Indiana University in Indianapolis, Indiana after that. I pursued my first fellowship in critical care medicine at the University of Florida. I obtained a second Fellowship in Pain Management at the University of California at Davis.

Clinical Interests

My clinical interests are mostly related to the areas of my specialty and subspecialties; anesthesia, critical care medicine, and pain management, hospice and palliative care medicine, especially interventional pain and topics in critical care medicine.

About Me

I am always up-beat and curious, and I have several interests in life. I am cosmopolitan and languages and cultures fascinate me. During my surgery residency I felt in love and I meet my gorgeous wife in the “capital of the world” New York City, Žaklina is the most amazing women I have ever meet, I am bless for her love, we have a beautiful family, my wife and kids means the world to me. I have several hobbies and enjoy many activities, such as traveling, music, fine dinning and every thing related to the arts (Broadway shows, concerts, museums, etc) outdoor activities like playing tennis, running, biking, and golf. Despite many years at several universities, my craving for knowledge has never stopped. It has led me to obtain several Board certifications and achievement of which I am very proud. Every year, I regularly take courses in several disciplines outside of my field of Medicine. I am constantly learning words in diferent languages, Spanish is my native language and I speak a few others as well.

My Philosophy of Care

My philosophy of care is simple; our nature is complex and the needs of our bodies and souls are idiosyncratic to each of us. As a physicians, need to understand, treat and integrate medical technology into the care of patients without forgetting the human aspect, and treat them as we would like to be treated, or as one of our family members. I truly strive for as much as I can, in every encounter.

My Recommendations

I recommend patients to be well-informed and responsible by knowing your medications, having routine medical check-ups, following your doctors’ recommendations and maintaining a healthy lifestyle by keeping fit, watching your diet, etc.
