My name is Gina Farnsworth and I am a Family Nurse Practitioner in the Department of Endocrinology. I don’t carry a formal panel of patients as my primary duties are diabetes care and management as well as insulin pump management. I’ve practiced medicine with Kaiser Permanente since 1999 and for all but nine months I’ve worked in San Rafael. My past professional experiences are wide and varied. Prior to earning my postgraduate degree and becoming a nurse practitioner I worked as a registered nurse at UCSF Medical Center for twelve years where I gained a diverse background in the fields med/surg, diabetes, oncology and organ transplant nursing. I am a member of the American Association of Diabetes Educators, Marin Nurse Practitioners Association, the California Association of Nurse Practitioners and the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. I am also an Adjunct Faculty Member for Sonoma State University.

I feel it’s important to live and promote a healthy lifestyle through various methods such as a favorable diet, proper and regular exercise and good sleeping habits. I’m also a firm believer in the notion and practice of nurturing your mind, body and soul. So often we are constrained by the responsibilities of everyday life. It’s important to achieve and maintain an equitable balance as a means to nurture life’s internal passions.

I’m originally from New Jersey and have been in California since the mid seventies. When I’m away from my practice my major passion is soaring the skies in a glider. I’m a glider pilot and I love the challenges and gratification soaring has to offer. I also enjoy hiking, gardening, reading and visiting with friends and family.

Thanks for visiting me on the web. Please have a look around. You may be surprised by all the valuable information we have to offer. I look forward to seeing you at our next appointment.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
