Welcome to My Internet Home Page

Welcome to my home page. I am pleased to introduce myself to you through this home page and to provide you with information than can better serve you.

About Me

I joined Kaiser Permanente Department of Psychiatry in 2004. I served as a psychiatric social worker intern while simultaneously attending California State University, Sacramento, to obtain my Master of Social Work degree. Prior to that, I received my Bachelor of Social Work degree from California State University, Sacramento and completed an internship at The Birthing Project Clinic in Sacramento, CA. I am currently registered by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences as an Associate Clinical Social Worker (ASW19316). I provide psychoeducation and psychotherapy for my clients. I also provide support to pregnant women of diverse cultural /ethnic / socioeconomic backgrounds to promote healthy decision making and lifestyle choices that would optimize their physical, educational and economic health as future mothers.

My decision to practice clinical social work was in great part because of my internship with Kaiser Permanente Department of Psychiatry. I learned so much about the impact of mental illness on one’s ability to perform routine tasks, foster healthy relationships, or cope with anger or stress. These illnesses may be classified on the basis of extreme mood swings, irrational or destructive thought patterns, and behavioral problems.

I grew up in Sacramento and have lived there for most of my life. Stockton and the surrounding communities, like Sacramento, are culturally diverse, which is one of my primary interests.

When I am not working, I spend time with my family and friends. I also enjoy attending cultural events in the community, traveling, learning about different cultures, reading fiction, cooking, and listening to music. Apart from English, I am also fluent in Urdu, Hindi, Punjabi and Hindko.

Philosophy of Care

I believe that trust and openness are extremely important tools in therapy for both client and the therapist. It is essential to start where the client is, find out his or her belief system and the goals that he or she wants to achieve.

Listening is another tool that greatly assist me as a therapist in evaluating the clients’ needs and what is preventing them from attaining those needs. I believe that I am a guide in my clients’ journey; to navigate through their struggles to find healing and celebrate their strengths.

It is also important to help the clients who live with tragedy, trauma and loss so that they may be able to find a purpose in their lives that is worth striving for.

Thank you for visiting my home page. Your comments and suggestions are always welcome and I look forward to seeing you.
