My Specialty and Why I Chose It

I am an obstetrician-gynecologist. This means I specialize in health care for women, from adolescence through menopause and beyond. This also includes caring for women during their pregnancies and deliveries. I chose this field because I feel that providing health education, preventive health care, and treatment of conditions that affect women is important, interesting, and rewarding work.

My Practice Philosophy

I believe in promoting the health of women through education and thorough, compassionate care. Communication is a key element of my practice philosophy. I feel that a strong doctor-patient relationship is important and that a patient should be able to fully discuss her issues and should understand her condition and treatment completely.

My Tenure with Kaiser Permanente

I have been a part of Kaiser Permanente since 2004, when I began my training in San Francisco. I decided to continue my practice at Kaiser Permanente because I really believe in a system of full, integrated care. I also enjoy having colleagues from other specialties close by, and benefiting from their knowledge and experience. I believe that patients benefit enormously from the team approach to patient care that exists at Kaiser Permanente and I want to continue to be a part of that.

On a Personal Note

I was born in Hanover, Germany, and moved to the United States with my family when I was five years old. My family then lived briefly in New Jersey and Georgia before finally settling in northern California. Education was always a priority in my life and I became interested in science at a young age. That turned into a strong interest in medicine while I was in college in San Diego, and I eventually found myself in medical school in Chicago. During that time, I met my husband Jeff and followed him to San Francisco for a tiring but exciting four years of residency. My life took another wonderful turn in my last year of residency, marked by the birth of my son. I couldn't be happier, raising my family and practicing medicine back home in Sacramento.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
