About Me

I was born in California. I graduated in 1974 with a BA degree from California State University, Sacramento and then returned to complete my Master’s Degree in social work in 1984.

I joined the Permanente Medical Group in 1989. Since 1989, I have been licensed by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences. I serve as an adult therapist for the department of Psychiatry, Behavioral Health Education.

Behavioral medicine is the integration of behavioral and medical science in the prevention, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of medical conditions. More than 25 years of research, clinical practice and community-based interventions have shown that behavioral changes help people feel better physically and emotionally, improve their health status, reduce the symptoms of medical conditions, and improve their quality of life. Behavioral interventions have also been shown to improve effectiveness of medical interventions, reduce over-utilization of the healthcare system and reduce overall costs of care.

Disclaimer
If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
