About Me

I am a surgeon specializing in pediatric orthopaedic and scoliosis surgery. I have experience in treating the full range of musculoskeletal problems that can arise during infancy, childhood and adolescence. The diversity of clinical problems (literally extending from head to foot) plus my desire to work with children and their families led me to choose this subspecialty within the field of orthopaedic surgery.

Prior to joining Kaiser Permanente in 2006, I practiced pediatric orthopaedics for almost a decade in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Stanford University and Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital. I am an active member of the Pediatric Orthopaedic Society of North America.

Beyond my work at Kaiser, I volunteer time each year to helping children in other countries who lack adequate resources for their care. I have regularly traveled to China to deliver orthopaedic surgical care to children within orphanages and foster homes, as well as to northern Nicaragua to care for children within the poorest country in Central America. Recreationally, I continue to train and occasionally compete in swimming (I swam competitively from age 6 through my four years of college at Stanford University). I am also kept busy with my own household that includes my 3 children.

I remain excited to have joined the Kaiser facility here in Oakland, and I am committed to trying my best to meet your health needs.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
