About Me
I am very proud to say that I have been a Kaiser Permanente physician for now more than 10 years. My specialty is anesthesiology and I have a sub-specialty in pain management.
The field of anesthesiology has allowed me to learn a great deal about both pharmacology and human physiology, two areas of study I have always found fascinating. More importantly, this specialty has given me the opportunity to take care of patients who are going through a very critical time in their lives. The relief of pain and suffering seems to be the most basic and empathetic aspect of medicine, which is why I chose to do a Pain Management fellowship.
As a fellow in training, I worked part time for several Kaiser Hospitals. I was truly impressed by the quality of care and their organized delivery system. After working several years in academia as a medical school faculty member, I knew that Kaiser’s philosophy was ideal for the type of medical practice that I wished to pursue. I’ve always wanted to provide the best care for my patients, and be a member of a progressive forward thinking organization. As Kaiser physician, I’ve been able to accomplish both of these things.
While in the East Bay, I have served in many different departmental roles over the years. I have been the Director of the Pain Management Clinic, the Sub-Chief of Anesthesiology at the Richmond facility, and I am currently the Operating Room Director with responsibilities over the Perioperative Medicine Clinics. All of these experiences have allowed me to continue to have an ever changing, challenging, and fulfilling practice.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
