My Background

I have lived most of my life in the Silicon Valley. I received my medical degree from the Medical College of Wisconsin. I then completed an internship and residency with the Long Beach Veterans Affairs Medical Center/UC Irvine program.

I am board certified with the American Board of Internal Medicine with a specialty in Internal Medicine. My practice is currently limited to select hospitalized patients, skilled nursing home residents, and the home-bound. I am an active member of the Ethics Committee here at San Jose Medical Center. My clinical interests include: Chronic Complex Conditions, Dementia, Palliative Care, Medical Ethics, and Rehabilitation Medicine.

On A Personal Note
My wife and I enjoy traveling which gives me a chance to pursue my passion which is photography and pen & ink drawing.

Message to my patients/My Health Care Philosophy

I believe that the best way to return "caring" to health care is to collaborate with my patients and their loved-ones to achieve the best outcome possible. I have found that when my patients fully participate in health care decisions, they adopt a healthy lifestyle that fits their needs. Rather than being in the business of "doing things" and "offering treatments," doctors should weigh the burdens along with the benefits so that a "plan of caring" can be adopted that allows the patient to achieve the goals that can be achieved in a dignified manner. I believe that Kaiser offers my patients the best access to a broad range of resources to help them achieve their goals and thrive!

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
