I've provided some links for you to use for immediate information and/or assistance for some of the more common problem areas encountered in the IOP (Intensive Outpatient Program). Please take a few moments to explore them at your leisure.

About Me

My post-graduate MSW was completed at the University of California at Berkeley in 1982, with clinical internships at Marin County Mental health and the Veteran's Administration Hospital in Martinez, Ca. I started working in Mental Health in 1977, and have enjoyed very broad experiences in the Public and Private Sectors, Criminal Justice and Probation, Emergency Services, Medicine and Education.

I love working at Kaiser Permanente because of the wonderful people I meet, both patients and staff. The rewards of my participating in people changing, healing and managing their lives are frequent and long-lasting.

Also very rewarding is my time with my wonderful wife and children, long-distance bicycling with good friends and playing various musical instruments rather questionably.

To obtain an appointment for screening:

An intake appointment is required for IOP and Case Management Services.

If you need an appointment for Teen IOP or Cast Management Services, please discuss a referral with your Psychiatric Provider. If you have already been referred by your provider or hospital physician, simply contact the Clinic Reception Staff at (707) 453-5055 to schedule an intake appointment. I can be contacted by any provider in the clinic to discuss the appropriateness of a referral for you or your family.

About the Teen IOP:

Teen IOP meets in Vacaville twice each week. At least one parent is required to attend with the teen, as we have found this to be the most effetive and usually necessary method of treatment. You may receive other services concurrently, such as, Drug and Alcohol Services, Individual or Group Psychotherapy, Medication Management, etc.

A full 24 hours abstinence from any alcohol or drugs is mandatory for all members.

Tuesdays: 3:30pm to 5:00pm Skills Class

(For chronic active or recent Self Injurious Behavior (SIB) or Self Defeating Behavior).

Thursdays: 3:30pm to 5:00pm IOP Group

For teens and their families in serious crisis or in need of intensive treatment.

Alternate weeks offer Teen and Parent Groups separately or Multi-Family Group.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
