My Biography

One of the major reasons I chose to work at Kaiser Permanente was the ability to see patients without having to worry about billing, approvals, excessive paperwork, or insurance concerns. Kaiser provides long-term stability in my practice, and the fact that I knew and respected the physicians working in the Emergency Department was a further incentive.

I like working in the Emergency Department and being able to help patients in distress, making a significant difference in their lives. The collegial atmosphere and reciprocal interaction with other departments is one of the strengths of our integrated health care model. My colleagues are wonderful people, committed to delivering optimal patient care. Patients benefit from our comprehensive system in a number of ways. They are able to receive high-quality integrated care at a reasonable price, and they have the convenience of seeing consultants, getting laboratory and x-ray evaluations, and filling prescriptions right here on-site.

I keep current with articles addressing the care of myocardial infarction and cardiac ischemic syndromes. I have also done some clinical research regarding MI care in the emergency department. I am a co-author on the care guidelines for myocardial infarction and cardiac ischemic syndromes.

Outside of work, I enjoy playing the piano, biking, participating in outdoor activities, and reading, especially history. I exercise several times a week at a health club, hike, pay racquetball, and love to ski. My wife tries to encourage me to eat local, nutritious foods. We have two wonderful children.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
