Greetings! Welcome to my Home Page!

I am a staff physician at the Emergency Department of the Kaiser Permanente Manteca Medical Center. I am proud to be a member of such an outstanding department and the medical group here at Kaiser Permanente Central Valley. I hope that we can always provide the highest possible quality of care and service to you.

About Me

Born and raised in San Carlos, CA, I love Northern California. My father is the most influential person in my life. He is a surgeon and he has been on the hospital’s staff for 53 years. Although he has now relaxes a bit, he still works and practices state-of-the-art medicine. I decided to become an emergency physician because I witnessed him aiding scared and injured victims of roadside accidents during our vacations. His skill, knowledge and calm demeanor impressed me greatly. I told myself that this is what I want to do when I grow up.

In 1984, I received my Doctor of Osteopathic degree from Des Moines University-The Osteopathic Medical School in Des Moines, IA. Internship was completed at Michigan Osteopathic Medical Center in Detroit, MI. Since finishing my residency in Emergency Medicine at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center at El Paso, TX, I have remained in emergency medicine.

In 2006, I joined The Permanente Medical Group for their quality of care and the dedication of the employees in the organization. Kaiser Permanente is well-established and has the tools to help our member’s manage their healthcare. It is also exciting to be in the Central Valley to experience its tremendous growth, and be a part of the new Modesto Medical Center. Having been in leadership positions since high school, I look forward to playing a small part in the opening of a new hospital.

My medical interests have included managing an Emergency Medical System, ongoing education of health personnel, and excellence in the care of heart attacks and strokes. The well-being of our emergency physicians and nurses is of great interest to me. My hope is that we all can remain in a stressful field of medicine until retirement age.

Most of my time at home is to spend raising my six children. I enjoy spending my limited free-time with my children in their activities. To maintain my health, I run five miles on alternate days. I enjoy 10K races and want to play on a master’s softball team this year.

My Philosophy of Care

A reasonable exercise program, preventative care, and acceptance of one’s medical issues are necessary to maintain the best health possible. Communicating with patients in their native language is vital to their understanding and acceptance of my plan of care. I work hard to make sure I understand my patients’ and their family’s concerns, and let them understand exactly my plan of treatment for them. Patients are treated as partners in finding practical solutions to accomplishing permanent lifestyle changes.

If you need emergency services, I look forward to caring for you. We are always open and we are here to take care of anyone who walks in the door. I recommend that you let us care for your medical condition early, rather than wait until a much larger problem arises.

Your comments and suggestions are always welcome.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
