Welcome to my homepage

I am pleased to have joined San Jose Kaiser PT department, this year. Physical Therapy as a profession is always changing. As new surgical procedures, technology and general knowledge base advances, physical therapy adapts and grows. It is this dynamic interaction between mind and body that intrigues me. I have always enjoyed an active lifestyle and relish the opportunity to assist others in obtaining their goals. My father was a collegiate coach and I grew up with an acute awareness of physical performance at its peak. I have also always been intrigued by the world of medicine. It is in Physical Therapy I was able to combine my two passions. The ability to develop/train your body to perform at its optimum, no matter what your ability, is why Physical Therapy has been my aspiration. I hope to motivate others to achieve their goals, and return to a more active/functional lifestyle.

My Background

I was educated at California State University Long Beach in Physical Therapy. I have over 20 years experience in a variety clinical settings and have worked with neurological, cardiopulmonary and orthopedics. I advanced to Clinical Coordinator in orthopedics early in my career. I also have successfully operated a private orthopedic practice for 17 years. Most recently I have accepted a position at Kaiser Permanente San Jose as one of the Physical Therapy Supervisors.

My post education includes Maitland osteopathic techniques certification in National Strength/Conditioning, Cardiac Rehab, Pilates, McKenzie, Atlanta Back School, Pre/Postpartum Exercise and Aquatic therapy.

My personal interests involve anything outdoors: sports, hiking, jogging, and travel. My two sons are both active in athletics, which gives me the opportunity to indulge myself. I also enjoy reading, scrapbooking, and piano.

My Recommendations

I encourage you to take advantage of all the healthy choices made available by Kaiser. Become an active member in your healthcare. Entering Kaiser as a new employee has opened my eyes to the vast amount of information available, ranging from preventative care to control of chronic conditions. In Physical Therapy our goal is functional improvement. We help you perform at your optimum level, whether it is returning to the Olympic high jump or being able to go up stairs, or get off the floor, we will work with you to achieve your goals. In addition we offer a variety of specialty classes ranging from spinal care to advanced post operative programs for athletes as well as the general population. I urge you to become an active participant in your healthcare. Live a happier, fuller and more physically active lifestyle by taking advantage of all Kaiser has to offer.

My Philosophy of care

When I think of Physical Therapy I think of becoming more active. As a Physical Therapist my goal is to increase your overall ability to function, to participate in the activities you enjoy or have to perform. Becoming actively involved in your healthcare, proactive rather than reactive will allow for a better outcome. There are many routes a person may take during recovery or prevention and I am there to give options, guide and help along the way; working together to problem solve and design a program that best fits you and your lifestyle. Become active in your healthcare and life!
