About Me

I chose optometry as a career because I’ve always been in interested in people’s eyes. When I went to see my optometrist as a child, I was fascinated by the power of glasses that could help people see all the fine details of the world around them. When I was in training at the University of California, Berkeley Optometry School, I found out that eyes are not only the window to your soul but also window to your body – signs of disease such as diabetes and hypertension can be found inside your eyes. I also like the fact that in my role as a provider, I’m in the front lines for detecting underlining diseases and referring patients accordingly.

I joined Kaiser Permanente in 2003. I enjoy my practice because I get to meet and learn about people from all walks of life. Besides being the low-vision consultant for the Diablo Area, I am also interested in seeing pediatric patients. My goal is to help people of all ages see as clearly as they possibly can, either with glasses, contact lenses, magnifying glasses, or high-tech electronic devices.

When I’m not at work, I enjoy hiking, swimming, traveling, reading, and listening to music. I volunteer for a charitable organization that gives free eye exams to Buddhist monks and nuns.

My patients might also like to know that I speak Mandarin and Taiwanese.
