Welcome to My Home Page
Who I am:
I grew up in India and received my medical degree from Bangalore University in South India. After graduation I got married (arranged as is customary in India!!) and had to move to the United States of America. I immigrated in 1993 and completed my residency from Loma Linda University in 1998. After my residency I had to find a job in my husband's beloved "Bay Area" which he would not consider moving away from. He had moved to Loma Linda for my residency.
What I do:
Throughout my residency I had most enjoyed and been interested in the care of acutely ill patients in the hospital. Luckily for me, the hospitalist movement was gaining momentum and many hospitals were establishing hospital based programs. As medical science has progressed the care of patients in the hospital has become more involved. Therefore, a group of physicians who practice this type of medicine, almost exclusively were felt to be best suited to provide optimal care to patients and their families in what is probably a very vulnerable time for them.
Why I am at Kaiser Permanente:
So, I took a job as a hospitalist in Kaiser Permanente in 1998. At the time I knew little about the organization, but took the job as it was located in the Bay Area! I might have had a notion that it was going to be an interim job until I had a chance to explore all the different hospitalist groups in the area. As weeks and months passed I learned the culture of Kaiser Permanente. I saw how easy it was to care for my patients and practice the medicine I wanted to with complete autonomy but with the support of all the ancillary services and assistance of collegial colleagues when I needed it. Quite unconsciously, I became a Kaiser Permanente physician and here I am in 2004, still a Kaiser Permanente physician!
My Other Interests:
I love reading, traveling, gardening, music, movies, and current events, but my two sons, aged three and eight, occupy most of my time away from work. I love to be involved in their classroom activities and accompany them on their field-trips. In fact, I changed my work schedule to work at nights so that I could be at home during the day and be more involved in their lives. So, if you have to visit the emergency room and need to be admitted to the hospital there is a good chance you will be seeing me. I hope I can give you the care you need and answer your questions and make you comfortable until you can go back to your own bed in your own home!
Thank you for visiting and good health to you!

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
