Many people have Laser Vision Correction done so that they are no longer dependent on glasses or contact lenses for distance vision. Individuals over 40 will still need glasses for reading after Laser Vision Correction to correct both eyes for distance.

My Biography

I was born and raised by immigrant parents (from Hungary) in New York City. It was a stimulating and exciting place to grow up in. After all, it's the world capital for culture and diversity. During my summers as a teenager, I would visit my relatives in California, and grew to appreciate the beautiful area and wonderful climate out west.

In school, I was always interested in the sciences and knew my career would lead me into some aspect of health care. Being quite nearsighted, I was always fascinated with my trips to the eye doctor, and ended up following the same path as him. Since I had been to California a bit, I thought Berkeley was the perfect place to get my training and experience living in California again. New York was great to grow up in, but the Bay Area is my ideal place to live, work, and raise a family.

I graduated from UC Berkeley School of Optometry in 1982. I worked in private practice for a few years, then decided that I was more suited to clinical practice with Kaiser Permanente. I can care for my patients in a state-of-the-art office without the worries that go along with running an office. Kaiser Permanente has been wonderful for me. I work three days a week, and run around the rest of the time driving carpools, and maintaining our household. I have two teenage children, and have been married to my husband, Nick (who's also an optometrist) for twenty years. We live in Corte Madera.

When I'm not at work, I love to hike around the trails of Marin. I'm up and out after the kids leave for school. I also love to read fiction and make beaded jewelry as a hobby.
