My Specialty and Why I Chose It

I am a nurse practitioner in Occupational Medicine. This means that I take care of people who are injured or made ill by their jobs. I also provide lots of job-related physical examinations. I enjoy caring for a healthy population and helping them to stay active and productive.

My Credentials

Bachelor’s DegreeNursing
Master’s DegreeNursing
SpecialtyOccupational Medicine
Board Certification Adult Nurse Practitioner, Certified Occupational Health Nurse

My Practice Philosophy

I take the whole person into consideration when evaluating and treating. Emotional factors are often as significant to recovery as physical factors. I like people to feel empowered to fully participate in their treatment program and do the work they need to do to recover.

My Tenure with Kaiser Permanente

I've been a part of Kaiser Permanente for 12 years. I like the collegiality that we have here. It often takes a team to treat an injured worker and we have good internal partnerships at Kaiser Permanente.

Why I Like Practicing Medicine at Kaiser Permanente

I appreciate practicing at Kaiser because we provide evidence-based health care. That means health care backed up by health research. And I, like many of my colleagues, appreciate the fundamentally ethical approach to medical care practiced here. In addition, we have world class health data available via computer.

My Professional Interests and Affiliations

I currently serve Board of Directors for the American Board of Occupational Health Nurses.

I am a member of the American Association for Occupational Health Nurses.

I recently received the University of California San Francisco School of Nursing Community Champion award from the School of Occupational and Environmental Health Nursing.

On a Personal Note…

I've been a registered nurse since 1978 and a nurse practitioner since 1990. I'm married and I enjoy living in Sacramento.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
