About Me

I am a member of the Department of Anesthesiology at Kaiser Permanente in Stockton.

I obtained my medical degree from Gandhi Medical College, Hyderabad India. I completed my Internship in Internal Medicine at the Medical College of Georgia School of Medicine. After that, I started my residency training at University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics in Madison, WI and completed the training at Louisiana State University School of Medicine in Shreveport, Louisiana. I also completed a fellowship in Pain Medicine at the State University of New York at Buffalo, and one at Pacific Pain Treatment Centers in San Francisco.

My decision to join Kaiser Permanente was inspired by my wife, who is also a Kaiser Permanente physician, and the fact that I had been a Kaiser Permanente member for a long time. Kaiser Permanente has been an immense source of inspiration for me and provided me a chance to balance a quality of life between professional achievement and my family life.

On the personal side, I enjoy family life, music, golf, travel (including cruising) and reading. I am a good cook as well. I am inspired by the personalities of people like John F. Kennedy and Ronald Reagan as well as Gandhi.

My Philosophy of Care

I am a strong believer of providing a blend of quality care and the healing touch. In my order of priority, patients always come first and foremost. Practicing anesthesia one patient at a time allows me to completely devote my undiluted attention to that particular patient under my anesthetic care.

Inspired by my mentors in various stages of training, my associates in practice and my wife, who is a top notch family physician, I humbly strive to emulate the interpersonal skills that make the difference between a good physician and a great physician. I feel very fortunate in having a great assortment of technology at my disposal to provide safer and better anesthesia care.

In anesthesia, I particularly enjoy outpatient anesthesia, general inpatient anesthesia and obstetric anesthesia as well as regional anesthesia. I regularly provide general and spinal anesthesia for most surgical procedures including major hip surgery, abdominal surgery such as laparoscopy and laparotomy, chest operations like lung resection of tumors, brain surgery such as tumors and trauma, spine surgery such as lumbar fusion and discectomy, pediatric surgery such as ear tubes and tonsillectomy, eye surgery such as cataracts and vitrectomy, vascular surgery such as carotid endarterectomy and abdominal aneurysms etc.

Regarding my expertise in pain medicine, I work as a Spine Medicine Specialist in the Kaiser Permanente Department of Occupational Medicine. I treat industrial and non-industrial injury as well as chronic and cancer pain via a multi-disciplinary approach involving spine injections, medical management, physical therapy, behavioral and cognitive management and eventually return the injured patient to a more functional quality of life. Some of the procedures I specialize in include cervical, thoracic, lumbar and caudal epidurals, facet joint injections, radiofrequency thermo coagulation, annuloplasty, dekompressor lumbar discectomy, vertebroplasty, spinal cord stimulators and intrathecal pumps for pain management.

We have a great team in Kaiser Permanente, and I try to help most patients in a customized manner to their specific needs.

Please feel free to contact me at my voice mail at (209) 476-5157 if I can help you in any way.
