My Practice Philosophy

I believe that every patient deserves respect, compassion and honesty. I strive to treat my patients as I would want myself or my family members to be treated. I actively involve my patients in care decisions. I believe in prevention and being proactive with health issues. I hope that I am a good listener.

My Tenure with Kaiser Permanente

I have been a part of Kaiser Permanente for over 25 years. I have had the privilege of caring for patients in a variety of settings including Women’s Health, primary care and now in subspecialty medicine. Prior to expanding my role to nurse practitioner, I was a staff nurse in Kaiser hospital doing pediatrics and intensive care nursing.

Why I Like Practicing Medicine at Kaiser Permanente

This is an outstanding organization to be a part of. I have had wonderful career opportunities with Kaiser. My current role in HIV care allows me to have continuity with my patients and to really get to know them as individuals. We have a great patient population---very engaging and challenging. My colleagues in the department are a wealth of knowledge and we work very well as a team providing our patients with the very best care. My role also gives me the opportunity to participate in our HIV Clinical Trials unit. Our multiple trials offer appropriate patients new therapies and help with the advancements in HIV care. I am very active in community efforts aimed at HIV care. Kaiser is supportive of my role in several organizations and believes in the importance of community involvement. This philosophy and the support of my colleagues allowed me to be able to experience volunteering in Vietnam mentoring physicians in HIV care.

On a Personal Note…

Outside of my role with Kaiser, I enjoy life through many different avenues. I am an avid traveler and always have my bag packed ready to go for any new adventure. My husband and I enjoy scuba diving as do our two grown children. I love to cook and experience new foods. I enjoy the mountains and a good book. I enjoy my family and many wonderful friends.
