KPNC Toxicology Consult Service

Welcome to my home page, and thank you for giving me the opportunity to tell you about myself. I am originally from Santa Barbara and have lived in California my entire life. I started my medical career at the University of Southern California where I graduated from medical school in 1997. Following medical school, I came to Sacramento for a residency in emergency medicine at UC Davis Medical Center. After completing residency (and one-year as chief resident), I headed to Southern California for a two-year fellowship in medical toxicology at UC San Diego. I returned to UC Davis Medical Center in 2003 to join the faculty as an assistant professor in the Department of Emergency Medicine, were I stayed for almost three years. I am now a new Kaiser physician at South Sacramento starting in December 2005.

I made the move to Kaiser Permanente because I truly believe that Kaiser allows me to offer the best care possible for my patients. I have been a Kaiser patient myself for many years now (since 2000), and have always been satisfied with the care I have received. As a physician, no other health system that I have been associated with offers the resources and follow-up care the Kaiser Permanente does. It is my intention, as your doctor, to help you utilize this system to the best of your advantage.

When I‘m not practicing emergency medicine, I am probably spending time with my wife and twin, toddler boys. Although my family keeps me very busy, I still try to stay active by running, biking, swimming, snow skiing, surfing, and racing triathlons.

Though I hope we won't have to see you in the Emergency Department, I am happy to be there whenever you or your family has an urgent medical problem. I hope I can make your emergency department visit as pleasant, painless, and valuable as possible. If you have any questions or concerns regarding your emergency department care please contact me anytime through the South Sacramento Emergency Department or my e-mail.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
