About Me

I was born in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and raised in Sunnyvale, California. I received my undergraduate degree from UCLA. And after receiving my medical degree, I decided to specialize in internal medicine. A specialty of breadth rather than depth, because “variety is the spice of life”.

When not caring for patients, my wife and I are busy with our two very energetic young boys. We occasionally find time for skiing and sailing.

How I Got Here

I have been a part of Kaiser Permanente since 1990 -- initially with specialty training, then again after five years in a successful private practice. What I love about Kaiser is that unlike private practice, I don’t have to run a business so I can devote all of my energy to practicing quality medicine.

My Practice Philosophy

I want to be your partner in health to guide you through the sometimes confusing world of medicine. I feel that an informed patient is a healthier patient. For information on hundreds of health-related topics, click on “Select a Topic” after visiting the Kaiser Permanente website. “An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure”. If you would like information about preventive health, visit the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) website.

My Credentials

Medical school Universidad De Monterrey, Monterrey, Mexico
Internship Long Beach Memorial Medical Center, Long Beach, CA
Residency Kaiser Foundation Hospital, Santa Clara, CA
Board certification Internal Medicine, American Board of Internal Medicine

Disclaimer
If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
