Welcome to My Internet Home Page

Welcome to the Chronic Conditions Management Department of Kaiser Permanente Stockton. I am a Cardiovascular Reduction Care Manager in the PHASE (Prevent Heart Attacks and Strokes Everyday) Program. Chronic Care Management is available to explain the complexities of diabetes, high cholesterol, and high blood pressure into simple everyday user friendly language. A wonderful opportunity to listen, gather information, ask questions and make a decision that may enhance your life forever.

About Me

My career started as a Navy Hospital Corpsman and I carried that experience into civilian world and graduated with an associate degree in nursing at Sacramento City College in Sacramento, CA. I have always been interested in the health education end of medicine so I went on to get my bachelor’s degree in health science at Sacramento State University, Sacramento, CA. I also have a year of undergraduate studies in a nurse anesthesia program through the Medical College of Virginia, Virginia Commonwealth University, in Richmond, VA that has served me well in the roll of Cardiovascular Care Manager.

After leaving the Navy I began my nursing career in a private hospital in Sacramento and was a member of a team that started the first child psychiatric inpatient care facility in Northern California. I then worked for University of California (UC) Davis Medical Center, Sacramento, CA. Between UC Davis Medical Center and Kaiser Permanente I spent about 12 years caring for the critically ill. I later changed professions and worked as a consultant and patient rights advocate for seven counties in Northern California. I represented the elderly and disabled people living in the community and in health care institutions assess health and legal services. Always looking for a challenge, I then spent four years in nursing home administration but found that direct patient care was my real passion. I got lucky after a long career in home health and found this position that seemed right down my alley. I have been in chronic care management since 2003 and find it very rewarding and as good as it gets.

I saw my first sunset in the beautiful state of Washington. As a child I grew up among the islands of the Puget Sound, WA and soon realized that being around water was important and gave me a sense of well being. Here in the Valley my wife and I enjoy the Delta especially and spend as much time on it or around it as possible.

My Philosophy of Care

I believe the secret to a healthy life is education. A healthy dose of frequent good information goes a long way to making the proper discussions about your health care needs.

Thank you for visiting my home page. Your comments and suggestions are always welcome and I look forward to seeing you.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
